I know there are a lot of people who enjoy reading our food and grilling articles, and since so many people share our affinity with food, I couldn’t help but think there are probably a lot of people who share out affinity with coffee too. So-this month I am issuing some of my favorite pro-tips for the coffee enthusiasts out there.
Whole Ground Coffee:
This should probably go without saying, but if you are serious about coffee you at the very least need to start with a good whole bean coffee and grind yourself before each cup. There are a lot of great beans out there, and with all the small local roasters out there, I am sure you can find some great beans in your neighborhood. If you really want to step it up, you can start roasting your own too.
Aeropress Coffee and Espresso Maker:
This is a low-cost tool that makes great coffee. It’s simple and travels easily, I bring it with me when I go to places or dinner parties that don’t share my respect for coffee. All you need is coffee and hot water. No electricity required! They are readily available on Amazon.
If I only had one option to brew coffee, this would be it. Simple and effective (just like our fixtures-shameless plug)
MateoJo Espresso Maker:
This is another simple tool that works great for making espresso at home. It’s low cost and doesn’t require the maintenance and space of a conventional espresso maker. These can be bought on Amazon too.
If you are looking for something a bit stronger than coffee, this really takes it to the next level. If you are looking for the ultimate coffee drink, the caramel Cortado is the ultimate experience…
I discovered this drink a few years ago and haven’t looked back. It is by far the best coffee drink I have ever had. Not a straight shot of espresso like a kick in the face, but not a glass of hot sugar either. The perfect combination:
- Put about (1) Tbsp caramel syrup or honey at the bottom of a 4oz-5oz glass
- Make (2) 1oz shots of espresso and pour into 4oz cup
- Mix the espresso and caramel or honey
- Add 2oz of steamed half and half (no foam)
Be careful, drinking these can be dangerous! Make sure to enjoy the last sip!
I hope these pro-tips enhance your coffee experience. If you come to visit our facility or are in the area hopefully we can go enjoy a Cortado together!
